Projects
Using artistic skills and scientific understanding of biology, I have taken on many projects over the past four years, ranging from an educational tree guide to a large mural for my college campus.
Guide to Trees of Oakwood Cemetery
- This booklet is the culmination of my education at SUNY ESF and functions like a self-guided tour of the trees of Oakwood, a nearby cemetery adjacent to my college. Well known for a diverse selection of impressive tree specimens, this site attracts locals and visitors alike to 160 acres of rolling hills and beautiful landscaping. If you’re interested, you can purchase a copy here. Profits go towards adding new trees to the cemetery!
- Written and Illustrated by yours truly
- Over 200 copies sold
- Covers 38 of the most common species, hybrids, and genera in the cemetery
- Diagrams on plant morphology and a glossary
- Colored map of the cemetery that ensures the user that they're looking at the right species

Laboulbeniales Research
In the spring of 2019, I worked with Dr. Alex Weir and a graduate student, Hannah Roden to describe several new species of microscopic fungi from the order Laboulbeniales. I helped write the paper and also illustrated the new species.
- Learned how to describe a new species in a precise manner
- Organized photos and illustrations in a format fit for publication, including scaling
- Used a camera lucida to draw microscopic specimens

Plantable Pots
As the horticulture intern at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, I researched a variety of sustainable horticulture techniques that could be incorporated into their production. I focused on three types of biodegrable pots which are designed be planted in the ground.
- Incorporated original illustrations
- Wrote a four part blog to educate visitors of the Preserve on the importance of sustainability
