Projects

Using artistic skills and a scientific understanding of biology, I have taken on many projects over the past four years, ranging from an educational tree guide to a large mural for my college campus.

Guide to Trees of Oakwood Cemetery

This booklet is the culmination of my education at SUNY ESF and functions like a self-guided tour of the trees of Oakwood, a nearby cemetery adjacent to my college. Well known for a diverse selection of impressive tree specimens, this site attracts locals and visitors alike to 160 acres of rolling hills and beautiful landscaping. If you’re interested, you can purchase a copy here. Profits go towards adding new trees to the cemetery!

Laboulbeniales Research

In the spring of 2019, I worked with Dr. Alex Weir and a graduate student, Hannah Roden, to describe several new species of microscopic fungi from the order Laboulbeniales.  I helped write the paper and also illustrated the new species.

Plantable Pots

As the horticulture intern at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, I designed a project to test alternatives to using plastic pots for greenhouse production. These pots are now an integral component of their sales floor.

Other Projects

In addition to those listed above, I have worked on a number of smaller projects. As a teaching assistant for Plant Propagation, I made a handout on the importance of using the right media for propagating plants in containers (right image). I also contributed to a large mural for the ESF college campus of a scenery from one of their satellite campuses in the Adirondacks (below).
